After finding what they knew was the best spirits available, they started the Cutler’s brand of spirits, a name now synonymous in the area for quality spirits. The Cutler’s brand included Vodka, Gin, Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey, Scotch Whisky, and Canadian Whisky. In the 1970’s, Ian’s Father, Chuck Cutler, joined in running the family businesses, making frequent runs to pick up more of Cutler's fine spirits as the shelves at the two liquor stores ran dry. The Cutler family continued to provide locals with top quality spirits until new laws were enacted favoring large liquor retailers, and when the first of the big 1-stop shopping marts moved into the small town of Oakdale business slowed, and when the recession of the early 1980's hit, many small local businesses struggled to compete with rock bottom prices offered by the megamart, and in the mid 1980s the liquor store along with several other local business closed, and with it the Cutler’s brand. Today, nearly 90 years since Old Duke Cutler started in the distilled spirits business, Ian is revitalizing the Cutler’s Brand with the same dedication to providing the finest possible spirits to the local population.
